grupo piracanjuba rushes to buy Brazilian dairy companions

Grupo Piracanjuba has acquired funds from Brazilian dairy commercial Natulact.

Natulact is headquartered in Nossa SenhoradaglĂłria, Sergipe, northeastern state of Brazil, about 115 km from the state capital Aracaju.

The acquisition makes Grupo Piracanjuba the first manufacturing site in the northeast of the country. Now, it has eight production facilities located in central, southern and southeastern Brazil.

“This will be Grupo Piracanjuba's first plant in the northeast, strengthening the company's expansion in the region as we will become more competitive,” said Luiz Claudio Lorenzo, president of Grupo Piracanjuba.

Grupo Piracanjuba pointed out in a statement that strategic synergy and Natulact’s location within the Northeast dairy basin are deciding factors.

Natulact's portfolio includes mozzarella, Minas frescal, butter and powdered whey.

Grupo Piracanjuba intends to maintain Natulact's cheese range while gradually expanding its portfolio and increasing its production capacity.

The company's extensive range covers over 200 products under Piracanjuba, Emana and Leitbom Brands.

Initially, production will continue under the Natulact brand over time.

“Immediate production will start with the Natulact brand, and gradually, the Piracanjuba brand will be applied,” Lorenzo explained.

The deal requires approval from the Economic Defense Committee of Brazil's competition regulator.

Grupo Piracanjuba said its goal is to retain all the direct work generated by Natulact Factory, with the number of about 260.

Last month, French dairy giant Lactyl Breast announced plans to make further investments in Brazil, which aims to enhance production of cheese and butter from Minas Gerais.

“Grupo Piracanjuba snaps up Brazilian dairy companion Natulact” was originally created and published by GlobalData-owned brand Just Food.
