When Coboli delivered an apparent point-ending smash, Munnar responded with a Federer-esque backhand over-the-shoulder drive to extend the lead and earn break point with a forehand winner. After returning the ball with his backhand, Munnar hit the ball with a fierce backhand and scored, 2-0.

Another bold backhand from the baseline helped Munar break serve. He jumped high and walked to the team’s bench with a 3-0 lead.

A stunned Coboly earned three break points in a tense fifth game for a total of five break points. Munar would not give up all five break points and held for 10 minutes to hold on to a 5-0 lead.

It took Cobolli 31 minutes to finally get on the board.

This is a brief repricing. Munar shouted “Vamos!” and hugged himself with love to take the first set.

Munar scored 13 winning goals in 33 minutes of action, including some spectacular goals. The Spaniard immediately got back to work, making up for a forehand error and breaking serve to start the second set.

In the 5-6 service game, Munar faced tremendous pressure and erased two set points. The Spaniard saved the third set point with a nice serve and volley. Facing the fourth set point, Munar once again served and volleyed with a sharp backhand volley.

The re-energized Munnar denied four set points and hit consecutive aces to force the decider.

Copoli, the standout player in the 2025 decider, immediately unleashed an inside-out forehand. The Italian hit consecutive diagonal forehand winners and then smashed the ball, making the score 4-1.

Coppolo calmly waited for the ball to fall, and he used a bouncing smash to gain three more set points.

On his seventh set point, Coboly stepped in and sealed the second set with a forehand to the line and leaped off the court like a trampoline to put the final set on the line.

In one game, the score was far apart between the two, and Coboli’s courage kept him going. After a stalemate at 5, Coboli showed off his forehand and won three break points.

On his third break point, Coboli broke with a huge grunt and a powerful inside-out forehand to make it 6-5.

With the Davis Cup shining on his shoulders, Coboly flew across the finish line and served with conviction to complete the match of his life, lifting the trophy in two hours and 56 minutes.

A series of deep counterattacks by the Italian earned him three break points. Carreno Busta saved two break points against his opponent’s weaker backhand flank.
