Abuse of old Gaza explosion footage in post about India – Pakistan

India launched many missile strikes in retaliation against Pakistan, but videotapes were widely displayed online and did not show violence between nuclear weapons competitors. The clip depicts an Israeli air strike on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.

“India attacked Pakistan,” reads the Thai title of Facebook post on May 7, 2025.

The post includes multiple nightly blasts. The video carries the logo of Pakistani news outlet Ary News, which shared the clip on its page.

The video was released by the media department of the Pakistani army, including news media after India's strike.

The videos surfaced in Thailand as well as other articles in Burma, Hindi, Sinhalese and English. Thai National Broadcasting Corporation's Urdu TV Channel 92 News and Thai PBS also misrepresented videos from reports about India's conflict with Pakistan.

New Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting attacks on tourists in the controversial Indian management in Kashmir two weeks ago – Pakistan allegations deny it.

Islamabad said 31 civilians were killed by India's strike and opened fire along the border. New Delhi said Pakistan's fire killed 13 civilians and a soldier.

However, the video has nothing to do with the crisis.

Other keyword searches found the same clip in the TRT Haber report on October 13, 2023. Turkey exports said Israel launched a strike on 320 targets overnight, killing about 400 Palestinians (released link).

Lebanese news media Al Manar shared screenshots from the same video and also reported that an Israeli strike forced evacuation in Gaza (a link to archive).

According to official data, Hamas' attacks on southern Israel killed 1,218 people on the Israeli side, mainly civilians.

The attack launched by the Israeli offensive for retaliation of the October 7 attack at least killed 52,653 people in GazaAccording to Hamas-Ministry of Operations Health, usually civilians, the United Nations is considered reliable (archive link).
