Accused of dumping two bodies on Clifton Bridge admits to a victim's murder
A man pleaded guilty to one of the victims' manslaughter charges after he was charged with killing two people and throwing his body into a suitcase near the suspension bridge of Clifton, Bristol.
Yostin Andres Mosquera is charged with murders of Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71, in the London Municipal District of Hammersmith and Fulham on or before July 11 last year.
The 35-year-old defendant pleaded guilty to Mr. Alfonso's murder at a hearing in Old Bailey on Tuesday but denied two counts of murder.
Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC said the prosecution did not accept the request and the mosquitoes would still face trials in the two murders.
The Colombian National Mosquito wore a black sportswear just to confirm his identity and entered into a plea through a Spanish interpreter.
In July last year, an investigation was conducted after human remains were found in two suitcases near the Clifton suspension bridge.
After a high-profile pursuit, the defendant was arrested a few days later at the Mides Railway Station in the Bristol Temple.
Mr. Longworth was British, and Mr. Alfonso was originally from France but obtained British citizenship.
The mosquito trial is expected to open on Wednesday.
