when raducanu fell Maria Sakkari She recorded 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 scores in the Fed Cup opener in Perth on Tuesday, playing with her familiar Wilson Blade racquet.
Afterwards, Raducanu said she spent several weeks testing Yonex clubs in an effort to improve the power of her shots.
Finally, the former U.S. Open champion regained the familiar Wilson racquet feel in match play.
“I didn’t have much time to test because I didn’t play long,” Raducanu said. “I just wanted to see if I could gain or add anything and hopefully I’d get the time to do it, and I did. I pretty much used it for practice those two weeks [Yonex] racket.
“It was awesome. I just wanted to play a game and fully believe in it, but it was too early. Yeah, I just switched back to my racket. I know there are certain shots where you feel every gram, every millimeter of your own racket, and you know it’s like your own hand. I think that’s why I went back to it.”
Although she plans to continue using Wilson racquets at the start of the season, Raducanu said she is open to more match testing with the Yonex when she takes a break from the tournament schedule.
“In the racquet, I’m probably looking for a little more power, a little more help and miles per hour of the ball, especially when the racquet gets as heavy as the night and the ball,” Raducanu said. “I just wanted to give it a try. This one didn’t work. Yeah, maybe now I’ll stick with this until I get another gap
in this season. “
