Ongoing DNA tests to identify victims
DNA tests are taking place to identify victims and hand them over to families, he said.
“The Gujarat government is coordinating with it. They have been on the ground since the crash and they have been promoting all the efforts and measures needed around them, so once the DNA test is confirmed, the body will be handed over to their respective families.”
“We hope the process can be completed as soon as possible,” Naidu added.
Extended inspection of Boeing 787 fleet
“We also have very strict safety standards in the country, and many international organizations including ICAO have also determined time and time again that we do have a very strict agreement, a strong agreement that we follow every time.”
“But even after that, when the incident happened, we felt it was necessary to conduct extended surveillance on the Boeing 787 series,” Naidu said.
The minister said there were 34 Boeing 787-8 in the Indian aircraft fleet today (before the crash), “I believe eight people have been inspected.”
He said any necessary steps need to be taken to improve (aircraft) safety.
Team members bring diverse expertise
Under the establishment of the High Commission, the Minister said its composition involves three people from various backgrounds, and the government believes that people can bring a lot of expertise and value to which the incident will be investigated in a holistic manner.
“We have limited the time to three months, letting them sit down, talk to various stakeholders, and engage and discuss with any other important experts, which is part of their investigation,” he noted.
He said the AAIB team believes that “the decoding of the black box will have an in-depth understanding of the actual situation of the crash process or moment before the crash or the crash itself.”
