“American Idol” murder suspect used the couple’s own gun, called 911

The suspect allegedly shot the couple with her own gun in the murder of the music director of “American Idol” and then called 911 in person.

The initial report said the suspect stole the couple’s home on July 10 without anyone there. Raymond Boodarian, 22, allegedly shot and killed Robin Kaye and Thomas Deluca when he returned suddenly.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman revealed new details at a city hall meeting Monday.

ABC7 reported that Hochman called Boodarian by name when he called 911 on July 10. The calls led to detectives tracing him after the deceased was discovered on July 14.

Fox News Digital has contacted the Los Angeles DA’s office for comment.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) made a welfare check, and Kaye and Deluca were found dead on July 14. A friend of the couple contacted authorities after not hearing from Kaye or DeLuca for several days. Friends were brought to the opportunity to enter the door by friends, where they found signs of trouble outside.

The officers broke the entry window and found the couple shot to death.

On July 10, LAPD responded to Encino’s residence after receiving two calls about the burglary. At that time, the officers saw no signs of forced entry.

“The house was strengthened. It had seven feet high walls with metal spikes on it, and they were welded to the walls there. The vehicle doors were closed and there were no spikes. Boodarian now faces two counts of murder and one count of first-degree burglary. According to Deputy District Attorney Hilary Williams, he can face life without parole or death.

Encino residents gathered at a city hall meeting on Monday to discuss concerns about increased crime in the area.

“This murder could have been avoided,” Fox11 said. “The community feels unsafe. They feel fear. Many elderly people don’t even want to come out of their homes.”

Authorities noted that they increased patrols throughout the Encino area from 7 p.m. to 7A.M.
