Beijing (Reuters) – China announced on Sunday that imports of POM copolymers of an engineering plastic from the United States, the European Union, Japan and Taiwan (a engineering plastic) are as high as 74.9%.
The Ministry of Commerce's findings concluded that the investigation launched in May 2024 concluded shortly after the United States significantly increased tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, computer chips and other imports.
The ministry said that POM copolymers can partially replace metals such as copper and zinc and have a variety of applications, including automotive parts, electronics and medical devices.
The ministry said in January that preliminary investigations determined that dumping was taking place and implemented preliminary anti-dumping measures in the form of deposits starting from January 24.
Imports from the U.S. are subject to the highest anti-dumping rate, while European goods will face a 34.5% tariff, according to an announcement on Sunday.
In addition to asahi kasei Corp, China's tax rate on imports to Japan is 35.5%.
The general tariff rate for imports from Taiwan is 32.6%, while the tariffs for Shermosa plastics and Taiwan’s multiple plastics account for 3.8%.
