As Mumbai rain causes severe damage, Mumbai city, Mumbai suburbs, Thana, Regard, Palgar businesses will submit July GST declaration form for an additional 7 days

Given the downpours in Mumbai and several adjacent areas, GST authorities allowed businesses to submit their GSTR-3B returns in July until the extended deadline on August 27.

Indirect tax assessors are usually required to file a one-month income tax return by the 20th day of the next month.

Extended to August 27 using the GSTR-3B form

Businesses that initially submitted returns before August 20 are still one week away and don’t submit returns until August 27.

Which areas are affected?

This extended deadline applies to businesses in the following areas:

  • Mumbai City
  • Suburbs of Mumbai
  • Lord
  • Raigad
  • Pargar

The CGST Mumbai District Office wrote on Weibo site X (formerly Twitter) that the new deadline was due to “continuous rainfall and destruction of public life” (formerly Twitter).

What is GSTR-3B return and why is it important to submit it on time?

GSTR-3B is a simplified summary return submitted by a company registered with the GST system.

This return – submitted using Form GSTR-3B – enables the assessor to report their tax liabilities to the relevant authorities, outline sales, input tax credit (ITC) claims and net tax payable.

This return does not include invoice level details.

All registered GST taxpayers are required to submit their returns.

Timely submission ensures compliance, transparency and seamless ITC utilization, avoiding interest or penalties.

Mumbai rain city; roads, railways, air traffic affected

On Wednesday, Mumbai continued heavy rains for the fourth consecutive day, destroying the city’s normal life.

The National Weather Service IMD has issued an “orange alarm” for Mumbai, predicting precipitation in the “heavy” to “very heavy” categories of the entire subway.

At the same time, residents have been advised to stay indoors and avoid areas prone to flooding.
