At least eight people died near Gaza food venues as Palestinians fear global attention turned to Iran

At least eight Palestinians were killed and dozens were injured on Sunday, and residents described the escalation of Israeli attacks amid the backdrop of a new war with Iran.

Although Israel has said Gaza is a secondary event theater for Iran, Palestinians have reported ongoing serious violence, including amid fires surrounding the distribution of U.S. and Israel-backed aid, with concerns that global concerns are evolving from Gaza.

“Injured, dead and martyrs,” Ahmed Al-Masri told the Associated Press on Sunday. “It’s a trap.”

Umm Hosni Al-Najjar said she joined the crowd at the aid site in the Tal al-Sultan community in Rafah around 4.30 a.m. The shooting began minutes after people arrived, she said.

The latest killing of Palestinians near the distribution of assistance managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) occurred when the UN Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Tom Fletcher, warned that the foundation’s operations warned.

“You must never encounter bullets. Humanitarians must be allowed to do their jobs. Life-saving assistance must be consistent with humanitarian principles,” he said.

“Without the opportunity to survive immediately and on a large scale, we have the potential to fall into famine, further chaos and more risk of life,” he said.

The shootings near these locations have been almost all shots since opening last month. Witnesses said Israeli troops repeatedly opened fire on the crowd, and health officials said dozens of people were killed. The military admitted to launching a warning to suspects who approached the troops.

Palestinians said in the latest incident, Israeli forces opened fire at the Palestinian crowd at about dawn to two aid sites in Rafah.

The attacks in Gaza are taking place because of the forgotten concerns about the territory.

Mahmoud Abu Haloub, 32, who was displaced six times during the war, told the Guardian that the situation in Gaza has worsened since last week’s hostile attacks with Iran.

“The number of aid trucks has decreased, and now the danger is greater for those who receive aid. The Israeli army has become more deadly than before, launching bombs and bombs that killed many people without anyone talking about these massacres.”

Mohammed Zuhair from Beit Lahiya region said: “The world shifts its attention to what is happening in Iran is a disaster for the people of Gaza, especially in the current famine.

“The focus on the Palestinian cause has decreased, and the world has forgotten us. Our problems have been forced to reach the brink, and we have lived a suffocating crisis under Israeli aggression, lockdown and lack of food and medicine.”

Maryam al-Shafie, 65, a mother of Wildow and 12 families, said: “Yesterday, my grandson went to the AIDS truck but had nothing. This is his first time, we will not let him go again after the massacre, many people were killed.

“It has been a disaster for us since the incident between Iran and Israel began. This situation has become even more unbearable. We expect pressure in Gaza to be less, but only worse.

Experts and aid workers say Israel’s blockade and military movements have led to widespread hunger and increased the risk of famine.

The shooting occurred hundreds of meters away from the site operated by GHF, a group that Israel and the United States hope to replace the unrunning aid distribution system.

The United Nations rejected the new system, saying it violated humanitarian principles.

The aid system launched last month was undermined by chaos and violence, and the UN system struggled to deliver food due to Israel’s restrictions and law and order, which it relaxed despite the lockdown imposed by Israel from early March to mid-May.

GHF said there was no violence in the allocation point. It warned people to stay on designated routes and recently stopped deliveries to discuss security measures with the military.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, Israel’s military campaign killed more than 55,000 Palestinians.
