Play at the Rio Open hosted by Claro resumed on Thursday after a second rain postponement.
After about an hour of waiting, Joao Fonseca will face Ignacio Busi in the Quadra Guga Kuerten, followed by Matteo Berrettini against Dusan Lajovic.
The first delay occurred around 45 minutes when Tomas Martin Etcheverry was three points away from victory over Vilius Gaubas 7-6(1), 5-3 15/15. The Argentine came back to win 7-6(1), 6-4.
In Thursday’s early game, lucky loser Jaime Faria defeated Damir Dzumhur 7-6(1), 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals
