Barkri Bank Holidays: On the occasion of Barkrid or Eid, banks in several regions of India will be closed today (Saturday, June 7). While banks are usually open on the first and third Saturdays of each month, some areas will see bank holidays due to the festival. According to the official calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), June 7 sets on the first Saturday of the month and will be a working day for the area where Barkreid is not a designated holiday.
Eid al-Adha, also known as Barkrid, is one of the most important Islamic festivals celebrated worldwide. In 2025, the festival will be observed in India on June 7. This festival marks the will of the prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son by obeying God’s command and is observed on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar.

Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad (both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Imphal, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram.

What days do banks usually close?
Banks in India are closed on all Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays and national, religious or regional holidays. However, on the first and third Saturdays, banks usually operate as usual.
