Bencic beats Nokova to claim 10th career title in Tokyo – Tennis Now

All good things come to those who wait.

Belinda Bencic Not in the mood to wait around for this Tokyo final.

Olympic gold medalist Bencic defeats Czech team Linda Noskova In today’s Tokyo final, she won the 10th career championship at the Toray Pan Pacific Open with a score of 6-2, 6-3.

Ten years after Bencic lost the title race in Tokyo, a focused Bencic crossed the finish line with precision in a final that lasted 1 hour and 22 minutes.

Competing in Tokyo brings good vibes to Bencic, who won gold at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and finished runner-up to Agnieszka Radwanska at the 2015 Toray Pan Pacific Open.

“It’s great to play in front of you,” Bencic said after the game. “The last time I won here was the Tokyo Olympics and the stadium was empty so the atmosphere was completely different, but it’s great to play in front of you.

“I love playing in Japan, so I’m really happy to finally win this tournament.”

This is Bencic’s second title of the season after winning in Abu Dhabi in February. Bencic moved from No. 13 to No. 11 in the WTA rankings.
