Team USA confirmed on Thursday that Nishish Basavareddy has started working with new coach Giles Sevara.

The 20-year-old had a stellar 2025, reaching his first tour-level semi-final in Auckland before climbing to a career-high No. 99 in the PIF ATP Rankings. Basavareddy eliminated 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the first round of the Australian Open.

For the second consecutive year, Basavareddy has qualified for the Next Generation ATP Finals hosted by PIF, which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from December 17-21.

Chervara is best known for coaching Daniil Medvedev to success for eight years. During this time, Medvedev reached world number one in the PIF ATP Rankings, won the 2021 US Open, the 2020 Nitto ATP Finals and six ATP Masters 1000 trophies.

In 2019, Frenchman Selvara was named ATP Coach of the Year at the ATP Awards. Chervara and Medvedev parted ways at the end of August.

Basavareddy, who turned pro in December after two seasons at Stanford, will be one of eight players competing in the 20-and-under tournament in Jeddah this month. Jakub Mensik, Learner Tien, Alexander Blockx, Dino Prizmic, Martin Landaluce, Nicolai Budkov Kjaer and Rafael Jodar will also take part in the competition.
