Suicide bombers kill at least 10 times in a restaurant in northeast Nigeria

Abuja, Nigeria (AP) – A suicide bomber in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria killed at least 10 people and was injured in an explosion in a restaurant, police said on Saturday.

Police spokesman Nahum Daso told the Associated Press that the explosion occurred in the Kundo area late Friday.

No organization claimed responsibility for the attack, but the northeast of Nigeria was attacked by the Boko Haram group and Islamic militants in the West African province of Stratt.

Boko Haram, a native jihadist group in Nigeria, raised his weapons in 2009 to fight Western education and impose their radical Islamic laws. The conflict also poured into Nigeria’s northern neighbors.

According to the United Nations, about 35,000 civilians were killed in the Northeast and more than 2 million were displaced.

This violence remains despite President Bola Tinubu’s government’s commitment to address the security challenges in Nigeria.
