Canales, 44, explained that Scourton, 20, was initially diagnosed with fever-related symptoms after a joint practice with the Houston Texan on Thursday, August 14.
“It’s a very physical game,” Canales said of the practice, “because he has difficulty breathing, because he has difficulty breathing because he has exhausted calories,” said an ESPN report released on Saturday, August 16.
He added: “He is tired, it’s all so we kind of calm down, [but] We couldn’t get him to respond well enough that we felt comfortable getting him back to practice. ”
The Canal shared that the NFL player was taken to the Memorial Herman Medical Center in Houston for observation and then determined that Scourton suffered a collapse in his lungs.
Canales explained that Scourton was commemorating Memorial Hermann on Thursday and then returned to Charlotte, North Carolina through the car with his family and an athletic coach. Scourton arrived there on Saturday.
As for when Scourton might return to the football field, Canales explained that it was “with these types of things.”
“I heard from trainers, from different coaches, that one person is playing next week,” Canales said. “So we have to feel smart about it and get you back to Charlotte right away.”
