Bruce Willis’s child proposes abbreviation to remember his dementia diagnosis

Bruce Willis‘special Emma and Bruce Willis: An unexpected journey.
Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, Emma Heming Willis and Diane Sawyer In an hour-long special airing Tuesday, August 26, Emma, 47, was asked how long it took her to tell her child about Bruce’s FTD diagnosis.
“I told them quickly. I’ve always been very open to the girls,” she revealed. “I never want them to think he’s not following them. What I learned is that when you give them information, you’re waiting to hear what the problem might be, and they really have no problem. I think, we all have a feeling of relief, like, ‘Okay, now we get it, now we get it.”””””'””
Emma and the girls came up with the abbreviation, and Bruce danced a wonderful turtle on his head to remind them of Bruce’s condition.
“The girls put that acronym together so we can remember how the letters are spread,” she explained.
Bruce, 70, also shared with his ex-wife his daughter Rumer, 37, a scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, with her ex-wife Demi Moore.
In addition to talking about Blues’ children, Emma tied up with the actor in 2007, when did his health struggle emerge?
“For a very talkative and very dedicated person, he’s just a little quieter,” Emma said. “When the family gets together, he’s a little melted.”

Sawyer added in a voiceover that Bruce’s family noticed that he was “reducing their lives” and that “the stuttering of childhood” “reappeared.”
“It feels a little bit removed, it’s cold, unlike Bruce, who is very warm and kind,” Emma explained. “It’s totally shocking and horrifying.”
Although Emma shared that Bruce was “still very mobile” and “overall health,” the actors’ communication was a struggle.
“It’s just his brain that failed him… the language is going on, we’ve learned to adapt, we have a way to communicate with him, and that’s just another way,” she said.
Emma also notes that as Bruce spends time with his girls, they notice some “moments” of his old self.
She reflected: “His laughter was so crazy. “It’s hard to see because as long as those moments come, it will be soon.” It’s hard, but I’m grateful. I’m grateful that my husband is still here a lot. ”
In March 2022, Bruce was diagnosed with a language disorder called aphasia. About a year later, the actor’s family revealed that his condition developed into frontotemporal dementia, which could affect a person’s personality, behavior and language.
“Unfortunately, the challenge of communication is just a symptom of the disease. Although it is painful, it is finally clear to diagnose it is a relief.”
