Carlos Alcaraz will aim to bounce back from a disappointing early exit in Miami when he competes in the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters as the defending champion.
In preparation, the 22-year-old returned to his native Murcia to improve his game alongside Spaniard Martin Landalus. The two train at the Real Tennis Club of Murcia, where the combination of intense training and camaraderie reflects their growing friendship.
Landalus, who trains at Movistar’s Rafael Nadal academy, has previously spoken of how valuable Alcaraz’s guidance has been during his rise.
He has risen. Last week in Miami, the 20-year-old produced the best performance of his young career, reaching the ATP Masters 1000 quarter-finals for the first time and making history as the first player born in 2006 to reach this stage. He is currently ranked 106th in the PIF ATP rankings and is about to enter the top 100.
Alcaraz leads the way in Monte Carlo as the top seed after winning the title in 2026. If the 22-year-old does not reach at least the quarter-finals in the Principality, the Italian will relinquish world number one to Yannick Sinner if he reaches the semi-finals. The Spaniard will face Sebastian Baez or Stan Wawrinka in the first round, while Sinner will face Moise Coume or Hugo Humbert.
According to the Infosys ATP Win-Loss Index, Alcaraz has a 17-2 record this season. He completed his career Grand Slam at the Australian Open and then won the ATP 500 title in Doha.
