The Spaniard just claimed his sixth main trophy at the U.S. Open, filming his sixth main trophy in front of the Manhattan skyline to celebrate his second victory on the Flushing Meadow.

The 22-year-old became one of only three men in the open era, winning six Grand Slam titles before the age of 23, joining Bjorn Borg and countryman Rafael Nadal. Alcaraz achieved this feat by defeating opponent Jannik Sinner, who had a 10-5 Lexus ATP Head2head Advantage against him.

Fans dream of a final between Alcaraz and Sinner in the Arthur Ashe Stadium, and that’s what they get. It was the third consecutive championship final for the two after Alcaraz won Roland Garros and Sinner won revenge at Wimbledon.

Alcaraz was asked about his competition with Sinner on NBC’s Today Show, visiting U.S. Open women’s singles champion Aryna Sabalenka.

“For me, that’s great,” Alkaraz said, explaining how to fight sinners. “I think we’re limiting each other every time. My approach is just focusing on beating Jannik and I think I’m going to get better. So I think competition is special, splitting the grand slam, fighting for great things.”

Alcaraz also defeated the Italian on Sunday to regain the No. 1 spot in the PIF ATP rankings from Sinner. According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, the No. 1 in the New World has a 61-6 record this season and will try to bring his momentum into the final two months of the season.

Alcaraz is the champion of seven titles this season, and he won the ATP end-of-year first place in his second PIF Honors (2022).
