December 15, 2025
If there’s one thing that epitomizes the essence of Carlos Alcaraz, it’s the thrilling moment at the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters that earned him the Batter of the Year award.
Alcaraz’s shot of the year was voted the most exciting shot of the season by ATPTour.com fans, beating out Grigor Dimitrov and Hubert Hulkac, who also won over fans with his stunning ground-breaking winner. At the same time, Alcaraz’s instincts and imagination are dazzling.
The Spaniard displayed his trademark blend of speed, power and flair at one point in the second game of the match against Daniel Altmaier, striking the ball quickly to create an acute angle before making a lethal sprint to hit a running lob. Alcaraz put his finger to his ear and asked Monte Carlo to get involved in the early stages of the third round.
Alcaraz went on to win the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters, his first victory in the principality and one of eight trophies he would lift in 2025. According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, he finished the season as the year-end No. 1 ATP player awarded by PIF with a match record of 71 wins and 9 losses.
The 22-year-old is a regular at this year’s ATP Awards. Alcaraz received his second Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award. His coaches Juan Carlos Ferrero and Samuel Lopez won Coach of the Year.
