Alcaraz headlines 2025 ATP Awards; Sinner, Vacherot and more winners

Cincinnati Open named ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year

Carlos Alcaraz and his team claimed three honors at the 2025 ATP Awards, capping off an outstanding season in which the Spaniard was crowned ATP Year-End No. 1 by the PIF for the second time.

The 22-year-old received the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award, while his team of Juan Carlos Ferrero and Samuel Lopez were named Coaches of the Year, leading him to a tour-leading eight titles in 2025, including two Grand Slams.

Jannik Sinner was named the Fan Favorite for the third time and his list of accolades continues to stack up, including Rookie of the Year (2019) and Most Improved Player (2024). In doubles, Simone Borelli and Andrea Vavassori also once again emerged as fan favorites, becoming the first players to win the doubles award in consecutive years since Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan (2005-17).

The ATP Awards also recognized Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool who were awarded the No. 1 ATP Doubles spot by the PIF, a feat they achieved in their first full season as a team.

Valentin Vacherot became the lowest-ranked ATP Masters 1000 champion in history after defeating his cousin Arthur Rinderknech in the final following his historic title win in Shanghai.

Andrey Rublev receives the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award in recognition of his mental health advocacy and ongoing work through the Andrey Rublev Foundation. The foundation was established in 2024 to support children with critical illness.

Event winners include the Cincinnati Open (ATP Masters 1000), Doha Qatar ExxonMobil Open (ATP 500) and Bastad Nordea Open (ATP 250).

Six other tournaments – the Rolex Shanghai Masters (ATP Masters 1000), Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, Banco Sabadell Open in Barcelona (ATP 500), Generali Open Kitzbühel, Almaty Open and BNP Paribas Nordic Open in Stockholm (ATP 250) – were named Standard of Excellence winners for their performance in player surveys.

On the ATP Challenger Tour, honors were won at the BNP Paribas Bordeaux Primrose (ATP Challenger 175), the Bahrain Interior Ministry Tennis Challenger in Manama (ATP Challenger 125), the Cranbrook Tennis Classic in Bloomfield Hills (ATP Challenger 100), the Curitiba International Tennis Cup (ATP Challenger 75) and the Santa Cruz Bolivia Open (ATP Challenger 50).

For the first time, members of the ATP No. 1 Club – current and former world No. 1 players – voted to decide two award categories: the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award and the Breakthrough of the Year Award, a new award introduced this year that recognizes milestone wins, significant jumps in the PIF ATP Rankings and first-ever ATP Tour titles.

ATP No. 1 issued by PIF

Carlos Alcaraz
The 22-year-old Alcaraz has been world No. 1 for 49 consecutive weeks – with more than 15 members in the ATP No. 1 club. He took the spot back from Sinner after winning the U.S. Open and has held it for just one week. Alcaraz showed great consistency throughout the season, winning at two Grand Slams (Roland Garros and US Open), three ATP Masters 1000 events (Monte Carlo, Rome and Cincinnati) and three ATP 500 events (Rotterdam, Queen’s Club and Tokyo).

ATP Doubles No. 1 awarded by PIF

Julian Cash/Lloyd Glasspool
In their first full season together, Cash and Glasspool made history by becoming the first All-British team to finish the year ranked No. 1 in ATP Doubles by PIF. They won a tour-leading seven titles in 2025, including five consecutive trophies during a 22-match unbeaten run between June and August.

Jannik Sinner
The Italian is a fan favorite for the third consecutive year, starting the new year with a successful defense of his Australian Open title. Sinner reached the finals in all but two of his 12 Tour-level events (Halley, Shanghai). He won 15 straight matches in Vienna, Paris and the Nitto ATP Finals, finishing second in the world with a 58-6 season record.

The Italian won four tour titles this year and returned to the Nitto ATP Finals in his hometown of Turin, where he is once again a fan favorite.

Breakthrough of the year

Valentin Vachero
Vaccero was ranked 204th in the world after entering the Shanghai qualifying tournament, and then won the championship, earning 1,020 PIF ATP ranking points and soaring to 40th in the world. The Monegasque reached the quarter-finals of the Rolex Paris Masters and reached a career-high world ranking of 30th.

This is the second time a Spaniard has received this honor. One of his greatest sportsmanship moments came at Roland Garros this year when he fouled himself in the fourth round against Ben Shelton. From 2004 to 2021, only Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal won this award, with Federer winning 13 times and Nadal winning 5 times.

Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award

Andrei Rublev
After establishing the Andrey Rublev Foundation in 2024 to support children facing critical illness, Rublev has ramped up his efforts throughout the 2025 season. Earlier this year, the foundation announced a partnership with Rome’s Bambino Gesu Children’s Hospital. Rublev visited the hospital ahead of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament to spend time with medical staff and patients. He also opened up about mental health and the importance of seeking help, discussing his personal struggles in the ATP Originals documentary Breaking Back.

Previous winners of the award include Roger Federer, John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.

Coach of the Year

Juan Carlos Ferrero and Samuel Lopez (Carlos Alcaraz)
Ferrero and Lopez led Alcaraz to the year-end ATP No. 1 ranking by the PIF and a tour-leading 71 wins and eight titles, including two majors and three ATP Masters 1000 trophies. Ferrero is the first coach to win the award twice (also in 2022).

Recognized for the third consecutive year, the Bolivia Open continues to stand out among South American Challenge events. Argentinian Alex Barrena lifted the trophy in June.
