Carney meets with the cabinet on U.S. trade

Prime Minister Mark Carney actually met with his cabinet today to discuss trade talks with the situation in the United States and the Middle East.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. ET.

Secretary in charge of Canada-U.S. Trade Dominic Leblanc met with U.S. officials in Washington today.

As Trump’s deadline approaches


Carney said on Monday that Canada and the United States are in a “hard stage” after President Donald Trump reached a key deal with the EU.

Trump told reporters last week that Canada is not a priority before a trade deal before the August 1 deadline.

Ministers are also expected to discuss the situation in the Middle East and “accelerate reform and capacity-building of the Palestinian authorities” after the government announced on Monday that it would increase humanitarian funding for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
