Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was surprised Friday by Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani’s campaign for New York City mayor and why young people need to be optimistic about optimism about “politics based on complaints.”
Kirk joined Fox & Friends, where he was asked about Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who has been closely linked with Mamdani, what New York City’s socialist mayor means to the Democratic Party.
“The Mamdani effect will be shifted among the Democrats. Now, how successful it will be in the general election, I don’t know, and I still have doubts. But the Mamdani effect is based on the politics of complaints, playing a pain in people’s pain, and falling into economic barriers that make us surrender.”

“President Trump will solve this problem, and his goal is to solve this problem,” Kirk continued. “But understand that for the young voters I represent and the young voters who provide President Trump with the White House, they can’t afford the house, they are increasingly renting houses, they are not married, they don’t have children, so there are two ways to go.”
Kirk said young people could take “an optimistic, patriotic vision like the ones President Trump has offered” or “a very dark and sinister vision – an anti-Western, anti-American, anti-civilized vision.” He believes left-wing Democrats like Mamdani have accepted the latter.
“I believe this impact will only continue to the Democratic Party in the next few years,” Kirk said.

“Fox and Friends” aired a video of Democratic National Committee chairman Ken Martin, where Jewish colleagues lowered their concerns about Mamdani. The term is widely regarded as a call for violence against Jews and Israelis, and Mamdani said he did not participate in police speeches.
“You might think that the Democrats will be moderate, you might think that I participated in a show by Gavin Newsom, and he will move into the middle. No, no, no, the rise of Mamdani, Ken Martins’ ridiculous statement shows that the canary in the coal mine is the Democrats will be in the double and triple of anti-scholars, Kirkirkirizatizationalatizationalda said.
“They will go more in the direction of camp we see at Columbia and Harvard, which should be for everyone in the audience, and it’s a scary option if we don’t maintain a Republican majority,” he continued. “The Democrats will offer something we’ve never seen in this country.”
