Brody plays Dr. Peter Bower, whose psychotherapist is still grieving the recent death of his youngest daughter Evie. One day, in his office, he was visited by a taciturn woman named Elizabeth Valentine (Chloe Bayliss), put her abbreviation on a piece of paper before leaving. Peter soon discovered that the girl died in 1987 and her abbreviation (EV) sounded like Evie’s name. Why was Peter troubled by Elizabeth? Why is it linked to train tracks that rest outside Peter’s office?
Backtracking It is a normal ghost thriller that evokes sinister moods better than telling a logical storyline. Brody, however, forgave the film’s frequent flights, where he devotes his emotions as much as he does in an Oscar-winning film. The actor makes you feel Peter’s pain and confusion as he struggles to deal with a supernatural problem that his scientific thought cannot fully understand.
