Christian Harrison and Neil Skupski continued their new partner’s impressive early form at the Australian Open on Thursday afternoon and booked a spot in the men’s doubles final.
The sixth-seeded team used a composed performance to defeat the 2025 two-time Grand Slam champion team of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 6-3, 7-6(7). Harrison and Skupski, who competed in last year’s Nitto ATP Finals with different partners, joined forces for the first time in Adelaide earlier this month and reached the semi-finals.
Standing between them and the title were Australian wild cards Jason Kubler and Mark Polmans, who thrilled the home crowd at Rod Laver Arena with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 win over Luke Johnson and Jan Zielinski.
According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, Kübler has a 14-3 doubles record at his home major, highlighted by his 2023 title win with fellow Australian Rinky Hijikata. For Polmans, the final marked his best doubles performance at Melbourne Park, surpassing his previous high of reaching the semi-finals at the Australian Open in 2017 when he first partnered Andrew Whittington.
Saturday’s championship match will mark the first Lexus ATP Head2Head meeting between the two teams.
