Clint Eastwood refuses to slow down at 95 to make new movies

Clint Eastwood announced that he had no intention of slowing down his pace to commemorate his 95th birthday.
In a recent interview with Austrian newspaper Kurier, the legendary actor and director turned 95 on Saturday, revealed that he is pre-producing a new film, denied that 2024’s “Judge #2” would be his last film.
“There is no reason why a man gets better with age,” he explained. “And I have more experience today. Of course, some directors lost contact at a certain age, but I’m not one of them.”

Eastwood signed a contract with Universal Pictures in 1954 and started his acting career in 1954. Initially, he worked hard to play roles and played small parts in the film, including 1955’s Tarantila and Revenge of Biology, before Universal’s termination of the contract in 1955.

The actor played a breakthrough role when he was portrayed as Rowdy Yates in the popular TV West “Rawhide,” which aired from 1959 to 1965.
Eastwood also discovered international stars in the 1960s when he played the man without a name – a fearless gunman, whose stoic shootings obscured his cruelty. The role appeared among the Italian Westerners of director Sergio Leone and was known as the “Spaghetti Westerner” which included the 1964 “Fist”. “Spend a few more dollars” in 1965 and “Good, Bad and Ugly” in 1966.
In 1967, the three films were released in the United States and became box office hits, establishing Eastwood as a bankable Hollywood star.

Eastwood made his debut in 1971 when he continued to star in Westerners such as “Out Law Josey Wales” and “Pale Pale Rider” when he played the acclaimed film “Play Misty for Me”. That same year, Eastwood starred in Police inspector Harry Callahan in the action-horrible “Dirty Harry”. The film was a key and commercial success and produced four sequels.
Eastwood won two Oscars in 1992 after directing and producing the classic Western “non-primitive”.

In 1995, Eastwood and Meryl Streep co-starred in the hit romantic drama “The Bridge to Madison County” based on the novel of the same name. The role marks his usual tough role and shows his versatility as an actor.
The Californian has achieved further success in the critical and commercial “Mysterious River” (2003), “Million Dollar Baby” (2004) and “Letter from Iwo Jima” (2006).
Eastwood, who was 74 years old, became the oldest person ever, won the “Million Dollar Baby” Oscar for Best Director, which also won the Oscar.
Several of Eastwood’s other highly acclaimed films include Gran Torino (2008), “Invictus” (2009), “J. Edgar” (2011), “American Sniper” (2014), “Sully” (2016), “Mule” (2018), “The Mule” (2018), ” “Richard Javier” (2019) and “Cry Macho” (2021).

While talking to Kurier, Eastwood reflects on the secrets behind his driving.
“I always knew that a positive attitude to life can develop further than a negative person,” he said. “You shouldn’t think of the glass as half-empty. When I was 25, I had that feeling, as an aspiring actor, he was despised by many producers to tell me I was a failure. I even heard the voice inside me and said you can do it.”

Eastwood also shared his thoughts on the status quo of Hollywood movies, denounced the spread of sequels, remakes and franchise films.
“We live in a time of remake and franchise,” he noted. “I’ve been filming three sequels, but I haven’t been interested in it in a long time. My philosophy is: do something new or stay at home.”

In an interview with Kurier, Eastwood was asked if his partner was bothered when working with some of Hollywood’s most beautiful actresses.
“The women of my life always knew that I wouldn’t leave them because I flirted with other women,” he said. “I’m satisfied with my life. At some point, I’ve always been older than my wife, but at least mentally as younger as them.”
He added: “I’m still doing well physically, so hopefully no one is worried about me for a long time in this regard.”

Eastwood also explains why he believes he continues to succeed after spanning seventy years of his career.
“I didn’t repeat myself, I didn’t always make the same movies, I always tried some new movies,” he said. “One new genre, another character.”

He added: “As an actor, I still have contracts with the studio, in the old system, so I was forced to learn something new every year.”
“That’s why I go and learn something when I continue to study, or until I’m really experienced.”
