Google showed off Pixel 10 less than a month before launch

By tradition, Google has shown at least one new pixel phone before it was announced. The Google Store homepage currently contains a short video teasing one of the Pixel 10 smartphones announced by the company on August 20.

If you literally get the web page, Google’s video is showing the base pixel 10, which looks similar to the Pixel 9, with some key differences. These include a new gray-blue finish, an adjusted back design that makes the back of the phone look like it’s rising from the frame and an additional camera. If you haven’t tried the Pixel 9 yet, last year’s phone only had a wide and oversized camera, while the telephoto lens unique to the Pixel 9 Pro model. Leaks suggest that Google offers all phone telephoto cameras in 2025, although the phone in the video is still likely to be the Pixel 10 Pro.

Apart from that, there is nothing to collect on the video. Some of this may be due to rumors that Google has adopted a more modest approach, with its new phone focusing on technological improvements (such as new tensor chips) rather than radical new designs.

Google runs a leaky ship on the hardware side, and most of its new products are reported before the company actually announced. In recent years, Google appears to have embraced the Pixel 9 lineup before its release last year and revealed the Pixel’s seven months ahead of its announcement in October 2022.
