Australia’s coffee club has entered the African market at a new store in Nairobi, Kenya.
The expansion is part of the company’s broader plan to build operations in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania through partnerships with Luqman Petroleum.
The Coffee Club is partnering with the Middle East and Africa franchise partner Liwa Minor to open 25 locations in East Africa until 2034.
“We are proud to announce the opening of the Coffee Club’s first store in the continental continent in Nairobi, Kenya – a city known for its energy, innovation and deep-rooted coffee heritage,” Minor said on LinkedIn.
“This milestone not only marks the beginning of the Coffee Club’s journey in East Africa, but also demonstrates the strength of our regional franchise model powered by global brand standards and local insights.”
The purpose of the Coffee Club is to blend the international coffee experience with local tastes and preferences.
The Coffee Club has partnered with local roaster Dormans Coffee to ensure the authenticity and freshness of its coffee.
Dr. Bruno Linyiru, Director General of the Agriculture and Food Administration in Kenya, explained that the Nairobi store is aligned with Kenya’s bottom-up transformation agenda (Beta).
Beta focuses on promoting value-added, market development, sustainability and youth employment by increasing household coffee consumption.
The Coffee Club was founded in 1989 by Emmanuel Kokoris and Emmanuel Drivas in Brisbane in 1989 and now has over 400 stores in nine countries.
