Cookunity Prepared Catering Reviews (2025): Chef-Centered Meals

It shouldn’t be Surprisingly, if a plate of chicken bababdar tastes delicious. This dish is one of my favorite North Indian gravy, and it’s a slightly edgy buttery chicken that’s a bit spicy but creamy.

Surprisingly, the chicken has arrived at the mail. Specifically, it comes from the microwaveable tray from the Cookunity delivery service, which looks a bit like a white label TV dinner-filled that morning in Seattle and drove to me in Portland, Oregon.

The world of preparing meal delivery is becoming increasingly popular, with almost all major cutlery kit services gained in the game. Nevertheless, I learned to relieve my expectations when testing ready-to-eat meals. Even if they start out well, it can make the pre-assembled meals taste good, which is not easy. The problem is moisture. The problem is the microwave. In many cases, the results can be reduced.

But so far, Cookunity looks like a big exception. Cookunity is a somewhat new model of prep catering services, like the cross between dining and Doordash. Cookunity is not making recipes in top-down corporate kitchens, but regional. The service recruits local and national chefs and promises to bring restaurant-quality meals to your home, prepared based on occasional big-name recipes. (Hello, Jose Garces.)

Especially my chicken bababdar has achieved considerable success. Saffron basmati rice retains its moisture. My thigh fragments are plump and still juicy. The sauce is slightly rich and a little hot, with most of the sweetness coming from the natural sugar of tomatoes and purees. Frankly, it tastes much better than the chicken dishes I get from my (certainly not great) Punjabi restaurant. However, preparation is just a matter of popping my tray out for 12 minutes or popping in the microwave.

Not every dish cooked is as good as Seattle chef Gaurav Raj’s Lababdar. We will introduce it in detail later. But its ambitions, culinary talent library, and the diversity of dishes – Aitian! Indonesia! the Philippines! – Cookness is the best ready-to-eat catering service I haven’t tested or tasted yet.

This is a summary and an important warning.

So first, the bad news: chefs are everywhere. Catering services are spread across eight regional commissary hubs across the United States and Canada: Seattle, Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Miami and Toronto. This left West Virginia and had many plain countries.
