Preliminary report shows fuel was shut down and one pilot accused another

Indian authorities released preliminary results in a June investigation into the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash, killing 229 passengers and 229 of all 12 crew members.

On Saturday, July 12, a preliminary report released by the Indian Air Accident Investigation Agency said that the June 12 accident was caused by the aircraft’s engine being cut off. The plane drove from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad to Gatwick Airport in London.

At 8:08 a.m., “Engine 1 and 2 fuel cutoffs switches changed from running to location after location, with a time gap of 01 seconds. As the engine fuel supply was cut off, engines N1 and N2 began to drop from takeoff value,” the report reads.

The black box audio in the cockpit recorded “One pilot… asked another why he cut it off. Another pilot replied that he didn’t do it.”

“At about 08:09:05 UTC, this is a pilot who spreads in ‘Mayday Mayday’,” the report according to the report.

The collision bidding responded to the wreckage at 8:14 am local time.

“The investigation continues and the investigation team will review and examine other evidence, records and information sought by stakeholders,” the report concluded.

Air India Flight 171 hits a university hotel in a residential area

“Air India maintains solidarity with families and families affected by the AI171 accident. We continue to mourn the losses and are fully committed to supporting this difficult time. We acknowledge that we have received preliminary reports from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) today July 12, 2022).

“As the investigation progresses, we will work with stakeholders, including regulators, including regulators. We will continue to work fully with AAIB and other authorities. Given the enthusiasm of the investigation, we are unable to comment on specific details and refer all such enquiries to AAIB.”

After taking off on Thursday, June 12, the passenger plane carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members crashed. The plane crashed into a university hotel in the residential area during the crash in Ahmedabad, and flames erupted.

According to the Associated Press, doctors identified the sole survivor of the crash as Vishwashkumar Ramesh.

“He has multiple injuries all over his body,” Dr. Dhaval Gameti told AP about the survivor. “But he doesn’t seem to be dangerous.”

“I don’t know how my survival survives. I see people dying in front of my eyes – the mistress of the air, and two people I’ve seen near me… I walked out of the rubble,” Ramesh told him in the Times of India about the DD news on the hospital bed at the Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad.

He continued, “Even if I can’t believe how I lived. For a moment, I felt like I would die. But when I opened my eyes and looked around, I realized I was still alive. I still couldn’t believe how my life survived.”

Ramesh recalled the moment before the crash: “When the plane took off, it felt like it was trapped in the air within 5 to 10 seconds. Suddenly, the lights began to flash – green and white – and then the plane crashed into some agency there,”

Air India has released a crash on flight AI171 on X, and they have set up a hotline to provide information.

Dreamliner set off from Ahmedabad in western India at 1:38 PM local time and headed to the Gatwick Airport in London, when the airport was heading towards the airport in London for five minutes.

The plane was run by Captain Sabaharwar and Emergency Officer Clive Kundar, reported by News 18 and Hindustan Times.

Minister of the Civil Aviation Union of Shri. Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu wrote on X that he was monitoring the situation while working with emergency agencies.

“The rescue team has been mobilized and every effort has been made to ensure that medical assistance and relief support is rushed to the scene,” Naidu wrote. “My thoughts and prayers are with everyone on the boat and their families.”
