‘Dad’ Jake Larson, D-Day veteran and Tiktok star, died in 102

D-Day veteran Jake Larson later became a beloved social media star who died at the age of 102.

Born in Minnesota in 1922, Larson enlisted in the National Guard and later survived in Normandy in 1944. In his 90s, he began sharing stories of his war and experiences, with his fallen gay experiences, capturing millions of hearts on Tiktok, and producing global headlines.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Larson talked about the horrors of the war and urged world leaders to “achieve peace.” Just three weeks ago, he won the Emmy Award with journalist Christiane Amanpour to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Larson often calls himself “the lucky man in the world.”

His granddaughter McKaela Larson, announced Larson’s death on social media, wrote to fans: “Please know, he left peacefully, even joking until the end.”
