Sebi said in urging the public to seemingly check the authenticity of any communication from its perspective to avoid the sacrifice of such fraudulent activity:
- Each SEBI order has a unique reference number: This number can be found on the SEBI portal in the “Order” section listed under “Execution” (Home/Execution/Order) listed on its website.
- Each SEBI recovery certificate is available on its portal: This certificate can be located under the Recovery Programs section listed under “Execution”.
- Each official correspondence has a unique document ID: Each piece of communication (such as letters, notifications, or summons) issued by Sebi meets a unique document ID and can be verified using the “Authenticated Document Number” issued by the “Sebi sebi” tool on the portal.
- Contact information for each SEBI official is available online: Contact information for SEBI officials (such as email ID and phone number) is listed online on the SEBI portal. These details can be found and verified in the SEBI Directory section on the website.
- SEBI officials use ‘@sebi.gov.in’ email ID: SEBI sends official electronic communications via its official email ID with its domain address “@sebi.gov.in”.
