Food Network Duff Goldman Sachs Share a heartfelt tribute to the late celebrity chef Anne Burrell After her tragic death earlier this week.
On Thursday, June 18, Goldman Sachs, 50, shared a photo of herself with Burrell through its Instagram account, reflecting the “complex” relationship with the late chef after meeting nearly two decades ago.
“I’ve written a lot in the last 24 hours, I’ve written a lot, I just don’t know what to say,” Goldman Sachs subtitled the post. “Anne and I were friends in about 2006. She was going through something, and I heard she felt it while traveling to New York City in Baltimore, and I made her a cake and said, “Don’t let the asshole win.” She never did that.”
Goldman provides insight into his relationship with Burrell and acknowledges its ups and downs. However, he said he always wanted the best for her.
“We have a complex relationship and I remember our last conversation having a very fulfilling debate about the merits of catfish before our road drifting. I believe in using “garbage fish”, “flavor”, “mud” and “cake boy”, haha.” “Anne and I are always back and forth full of energy and a little fanatic. I really don’t know why our road drifted, but I always hoped that Anne was doing well and found some happiness no matter where she was.”
In the title, Goldman reflects on his memories of meeting Burrell during a celebration with his daughter after talking to his chef.

On Tuesday, June 17, news broke that Burrell was found dead at his Brooklyn home. She is 55 years old.
“Anne is a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother and friend-her smile illuminates every room she enters,” her family said in a statement in Us Weekly. “Anne’s light shines far beyond the people she knows and has moved millions of people around the world. Although she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and infinite love remains eternal.”
