Echeverri beats Tabilo to claim maiden Rio title – Tennis Now

The marathon victory came just hours after Echeverri beat Vit Kopriva 4-6, 7-6(2), 7-6(4) in the Rio de Janeiro clay-court semifinals.
In the final, Echeverri hit 14 aces on four double faults and saved six of nine break points to defeat Tabilo for the second time this month.
Echeverri defeated Tabilo 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals in Buenos Aires earlier this month.
Eighth-seeded Echeverry earned his 100th win at tour level on Friday to put the Rio trophy in Argentina’s hands for the third consecutive year. Sebastian Baez wins the 2024 and 2025 Rio Olympics.
Echeverri denied Tabilo’s desire to become the first Chilean in Open history to win a tour-level title on clay, grass and hard courts.
