OnePlus starts with the introduction of Plus Key, revealing its device’s AI initiative, which will replace the alert slider. Like its predecessor, the plus sign is a physical button that users can customize starting the camera, starting translation or starting recording. More importantly, it launches a new AI Plus Mind feature that records and recalls information on the screen. For example, when users want to note down important information, such as schedules, event details, bookings, or lists, they can press the Plus key to activate AI Plus Plus and save those details. (Note that this feature can extract details from images and text.) Alternatively, they can be swiped on the screen with three fingers.
The purpose of AI Plus is to save relevant content into a dedicated thinking space where users can browse various information they save. Users can then use natural language query to search for the details they want to find. Both Plus Key and AI Plus Mind will debut on the OnePlus 13 in Asia. The AI Plus Mind will be updated to the rest of the OnePlus 13 series devices with future software, and all future OnePlus phones will come with a new physical key. It is worth noting that the new buttons and features have similarities to Nothing’s physically required keys, which also hold information in a basic spatial application. Carl Pei co-founded OnePlus, but it didn’t.
The company has also developed several tools for OnePlus AI, including AI Voicescribe, which allows users to “record, summarize and translate calls and meetings, directly in popular messaging, videos and online meeting applications.” AI Translation will merge the brand’s translation capabilities into one app through text, live voice, cameras and screens, just like Google Translation. AI search will enable natural language queries to search for local files and comments. Meanwhile, the upcoming AI Best Face 2.0 this summer can correct the problem of eye closure in Group Photos.
