Felix Auger-Aliassime put an end to French qualifier Titouane Drouge’s breakthrough performance at the Open Occitanie in Montpellier on Saturday. The top seed and defending champion raised her game in the deciding set, winning 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1 in the ATP 250 semifinals.
Auger-Aliassime reached the tour level final for the 21st time and the 13th indoor final. Seven of the Canadian’s eight career titles have been won indoors, and he has won 87 matches in indoor conditions, the most on the ATP Tour in a decade.
“I felt like even in the second set my chances were going to come,” said the 25-year-old, who was determined against big-server Drog. “It was good that I won the first set. It gave me time to figure out how to break him. I thought I served better in the third set. I thought my returns were better on my second serve returns as well. I hit the ball cleaner and hit different targets really well.”
Droghe, playing in his first tour-level semifinal and first against an opponent ranked in the top 10 of the PIF ATP Rankings, hit a majestic topspin lob in the second-set tiebreak at 5/5 and followed it up with 14 aces to force the match into a third set.
But after saving two break points at 1-1 in the third set, Auger-Aliassime won five consecutive games. According to Infosys ATP statistics, he saved all three of his opponent’s break points in the match and converted three of 10 break points.
After consecutive wins over France’s Arthur Fels and Droghet, Auger-Aliassime will face another home hope in the final: Adrian Manarino.
“I like this. I like playing like this,” the world number eight said of the buzz against France. “It’s a lot better to play in an atmosphere like this than playing in front of no one or having no one involved. It’s certainly great.”

Manarino ended the winning streak of American qualifier Martin Damm 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. The 37-year-old Frenchman recovered from a slow start to reach his 16th tour-level final and first in France. The oldest finalist in the tournament’s history, Manarino has risen to No. 51 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings.
“It’s a battle,” Manarino said. “He put pressure on me from the first shot. I had to do my best. I had a small chance in the second set, but I did it, and it was the same thing in the third set. It went my way, but it was pretty crazy.”
Manarino is a five-time Tour champion but is seeking his first title since winning in Sofia in 2023. He will play in his first tour final since that week in Sofia on Sunday.
Damm battled through the qualifying rounds of the ATP 250 event before defeating Hubert Hurkacz and Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets. The 22-year-old defeated Luca Nardi in the quarter-finals to advance to the tour-level semi-finals for the first time. Since his departure from Montpellier, he has climbed 30 places to No. 130 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings.
