First trade: Sensex drops more than 300 points, below 24,750; TCS drag, Tata motor gain

The Indian stock benchmark opened on weak notes on Monday, a global tip and cautious investor sentiment. Sensex fell 302.47 points, or 0.37%, to 81,160.62, while Nifty fell 93.35 points, or 0.38%, to 24,743.65.

The market breadth was slightly negative, with 1,108 stocks moving forward, 1,359 stocks falling, and 184 stocks not changing.

The highest nifty gains include Tata Motors, Cipla, Tata Steel, Hindustan Unilever and Bajaj Finserv. On the other hand, the main losers include Kotak Mahindra Bank, TCS, Jio Financial, Bajaj Finance, HCL Technolagies and Titan Company.

Investors will closely monitor revenue, global trends and institutional flows in the first quarter to further market direction.
