House Dems demanded Abrego Garcia's “proof of life”.

House Democrats traveled to El Salvador to seek the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who had written to Secretary of State Marco Rubio for a “proof of daily life” after meeting with El Salvador nationals who were expelled from Maryland, asking for “proof of daily life.”
Last week, Rep. Robert Garcia of California, Maxwell Frost of Florida, Yassamin Ansari of Arizona and Maxine Dexter of Oregon flew to El Salvador on Monday after Senator Chris Van Hollen visited the country last week.
“We met with the Embassy in El Salvador this morning and as far as we know, I have no reason to believe in our administration, and the Trump administration is doing everything we can to promote his safe return to home.”
She added: “Because we cannot get the answers we need today from the embassy, we have written a letter that as of 30 minutes ago, we have written to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, asking Mr. Abrego Garcia to provide daily life certificates for Mr. Abrego Garcia, asking him to see him – he can see the lawyer and, finally, ultimately, ask him to return home safely.” “And we won't stop until it's done.”

Abrego Garcia, a 29-year-old immigrant who illegally crossed the border, settled in Maryland and obtained protected legal status, was deported to El Salvador last month. Officials acknowledged in court that his deportation was an administrative error, although some Trump officials now say he has been properly removed and argued that he is a member of the infamous MS-13 gang.
Frost said Monday that the traveling Democrats “formally requested” to meet with Abreg Garcia, but “we were told at the meeting that the government here denied our request to meet him because it was not a formal trip.”

“We are also worried about our voters; we represent people in the whole country.” “We get hundreds of calls – people say 'Go to El Salvador, do something, do something, and that the US president in the Oval Office is talking about sending American citizens here to El Salvador to prison here.''''

He added: “We don't want to wait until things get worse. We're here based on the work of Senator Van Hollen, who came here heroically, and for the first time since he was brought here, he showed him to his family and the world, he was alive, he was alive, he was alive, and he was not bad at the time,” he added. “What we want to know is where he is now? What is his situation now? His family should know, and people should know.”
“We are very grateful to members of Congress and judicial advocates for now on the ground in El Salvador, based on the leadership of Senator Van Hollen,” said in a statement Monday.
