“Two nights ago, I practiced a practice with Frances and I was starting to feel like, like, so sick. I was all night long, like, cough, sore throat, all the normal things. On a tricky night, a gritty Fritz revenges on a public loss to Messik’s Miami in March to make Americans hope to enter the Davis Cup final No. 8 in Bologna, Italy.
“It’s a big boost. When I woke up this morning, I didn’t know if Taylor could use it with his team, and obviously, I’m happy to hear that he’s turning around due to his condition and he’s going to be able to go there to play,” said U.S. Captain Bob Bryan. “So, look, 1-1 is a great place for this team.
“You know, tomorrow we have two experienced players playing doubles. Hopefully, it will get us into that lead and then we can close the door. But 1-1, it feels good to sleep.”
