Notebooklm is an acceptable face for Google AI and is receiving an app in May

NoteBookLM is a Google Research tool that is notorious for its incredible AI-generated podcasts, which will be available for the official app on May 20, 2025. You can pre-register the Android or iOS version of the app right now and automatically download it to your device on May 20, the first day of Google I/O 2025.
According to the listings in the Play Store and the App Store, it seems that Google intends to keep all the core features of the NotebookLM's web version intact for its mobile playback. You can upload a variety of different sources (PDF, website URL, YouTube videos and copy text) and have NotebookLM powered by Gemini, do it with them. This could be answering specific questions, generating study guides, or creating an audio overview, i.e. the previously mentioned “podcast.”
NoteBookLM started life from Project Windwind in I/O 2023 and gradually transformed from a research project to a real product. The service was officially launched as NotesbookLM in December 2023 and received an audio overview in September 2024. As of April 2025, NotesbookLM is now available in over 50 languages. Getting the actual application release is the best signal, but the service will stay here.
For its success, laptop companies make more sense as a tool than basically any other Gemini product. The output of this service is based on the document and source of your choice. This means Google's AI is unlikely to cite a research study and it's easier to double-check its answers, as you can view the source directly in NotebookLM.
Google has shown that I/O 2025 will focus on Gemini by introducing Android announcements to its own stream, so NoteBookLM is likely to be the only AI product to get love on May 20. As we all know, does Google have any ideas, such as those that help you dig into AI for long-term PDFs. ”
