It’s a feast of rest and the ultimate breakthrough Coco Gough.
Defending French Open champion Gauff saved seven of nine break points Jasmine Paolini She reached her fourth final of the season at the Wuhan Open 6-4, 6-3.
Third-seeded Gauff will face world No. 1 and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka or sixth-seeded compatriot Jessica Pegula in tomorrow’s final.
The 21-year-old Gauff has never dropped a set in her first final since defeating Sabalenka 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4 in June to win her first French Open title.
This is Gauff’s third WTA 1000 final this year, avenging her 6-4, 6-2 loss to Paolini in the Rome final last May.

In a match that featured 12 breaks of serve and seven double faults for Gauff, the Delray Beach-born baseliner relied on her mental strength, speed on the court and some well-timed groundstrokes to prevail.
After trailing 2-3 in the second set, Gauff won four consecutive games, defeated Paolini for the first time since the 2023 Cincinnati Open, and evened the series with a total score of 3-3.
