Gaza Aid Center Reopens after Security Upgrade

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) said it plans to reopen its aid distribution center in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, although operations are expected to begin later in the day, rather than earlier this week.

The centers closed Wednesday as the foundation described it as a “renovation work.” The decision comes after repeated reports that Israeli forces killed people near the food distribution site in Gaza, prompting the GHF to improve security measures.

Despite this, despite the challenging conditions, efforts are still being made to ensure food parcels are distributed as safely as possible, GHF said in a statement on its Arabic Facebook page.

It urged all Palestinians traveling to the center to use routes designated by the Israeli military for security.

The announcement does not specify which centers will reopen or provide exact opening hours. The foundation said it will share more details once “maintenance and repair work” is completed.

The Israeli era pointed out that a lack of clarity may make it difficult for Gaza residents to plan the long-distance travel needed to collect aid.

GHF launched its issuance network after Israel allowed limited humanitarian visits under international pressure, after nearly three months of lockdown.
