Organizers responded in a statement shared by festival owner Emily Eavis to social media, and organizers said they were “shocked” by the comments.
“The Glastonbury Festival was founded in 1970 and is a place where people gather to rejoice in music, art and human efforts. As a festival, we oppose war and terrorism in all forms. We will always believe – and actively campaign for hope, unity, peace and love,” a statement. ”
“With nearly 4,000 performances in Glastonbury in 2025, there will inevitably be artists and speakers appearing on our stage, our views we do not share, and the presence of performers here should never be seen as a default recognition of their views and beliefs.
“But Bob Vylan was shocked yesterday at the statement made on the West Holts stage. Their odes are very crossing a line and we urgently remind everyone involved in the festival that there is no place on Glastonbury for anti-Semitism, hate speech, hate violence or violence.”
The BBC issued a similar statement because they confirmed that the collection will not be viewed on demand.
“Some of the comments posted during Bob Vylan were offensive,” they said. “During iPlayer’s live broadcast, it reflected what was happening on the stage, sending out warnings on screen about very powerful and discriminatory language. We have no plans to deliver performance as needed.”
Police also evaluated their scene footage to see if any crime was committed, and independent reports said Culture Minister Lisa Nandy had spoken with BBC Director General Tim Davie to “seek urgent explanation of its due diligence before Bob Vylan’s performance”.
Bob Vylan performed shortly before Kneecap, who had offered the most anticipated weekend. The festival faces pressure from characters including Keir Starmer after the band’s Liam O Hannaidh was charged with horror crimes, claiming he held a show at the O2 forum late last year.
Bob Vylan commented on Glastonbury’s comments.
