Globe urges PBBM to return KP bill to Congress and strengthen commitment to inclusive growth

Globe spoke at the 1H 2025 Financial Media Briefing, reaffirming its strong support for inclusive internet access and urging President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (PBBM) to return Konektadong Pinoy (KP) A further improved bill is introduced to Congress to ensure it fully meets its transformative goals.

The company stressed that while KP Bill’s core intention is to make Internet access more affordable and universally available, this vision can only be realized in a level-competitive environment in the telecom industry.

Globe continues to expand its network and launch innovative digital solutions, fully aligned with the government’s mission, which is to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusive growth.

For years, Globe has championed equitable access to affordable and reliable internet and recognized connectivity as the cornerstone of national development and social empowerment.

The company fully supports KP Bill’s vision and goals. However, it also believes that the bill needs to be carefully revised and therefore it can be a stronger framework to empower each Philippines.

“We are advocating for universal access to affordable and reliable internet. But we think the bill requires further research and reform. We want the president to understand the concerns raised by many in the industry, including respected voices and famous personality,” Globe’s general counsel said. “Our main concerns include regulatory imbalances, uneven competition and a lack of transparency and oversight for new players.”

By connecting its solid financial performance with advocating for inclusive connectivity, Globe highlights how sustainable business growth provides greater investments for digital access and socio-economic progress nationwide.

Globe also calls on close cooperation between the government, industry stakeholders and Congress to ensure that the KP bill not only accelerates connectivity, but also integrates important safeguards into the long-term stability, equity and security of the digital ecosystem.
