Yotta and Nvidia launch Shakti Cloud to drive India's sovereign AI Vision

Key Highlights:
Yotta and Nvidia launch Shakti Cloud powered by NVIDIA DGX Cloud Lepton to drive India's sovereign AI ecosystem.
The move is synchronized with India's vision of developing independent AI infrastructure and language models specifically targeting Indian use cases.
Key facts:
Yotta is the first NVIDIA cloud partner in the Asia-Pacific region and becomes part of the NVIDIA Model Cloud Project.
Shakti Cloud will have over 16,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs by mid-2024 and will expand to 32,768 by the end of 2025.
Key background:
Yotta Data Services is the first Indian data center and cloud services company, partnering with NVIDIA, the world's leading technology company, to launch Shakti Cloud powered by DGX Cloud Lepton. The strategic initiative is part of India’s plan to develop sovereignty to the artificial intelligence infrastructure that can support the development of large-scale, indigenous AI models. The project is at the heart of India’s mission, which is to give self-reliance and secure AI capabilities.
Shakti Cloud will be the nationwide AI computing infrastructure and will be able to develop and deploy large-scale language models specific to India, such as Sarvam AI's Sovereign LLM. The latter is able to perceive and produce content in the Indian language, so areas such as governance, agriculture and education can now take off. Developers, startups and governments can now obtain high-performance AI computing power without relying on overseas platforms.
At the heart of Shakti Cloud is NVIDIA's DGX Cloud Lepton Stack, which provides state-of-the-art GPU performance for enhanced AI workload optimization. By deploying over 16,000 NVIDIA H100 tensor core GPUs, the roadmap to mid-2024 and 2025 to launch 32,768 GPUs, Yotta paves the way for India’s largest AI Computing Cloud. The scale and complexity of infrastructure place India in a few countries with sovereign AI capabilities.
Yotta's inclusion of its inclusion in the NVIDIA Model Cloud Program represents its contribution to global AI leadership. The partnership enables India to lead innovation through on-premises data and AI application control. The Shakti Cloud program will be equipped with startups, companies and government agencies to ensure that effective AI capabilities are affordable and democratized and drive local innovation on a large scale.
