Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten made a strong statement at the Nitto ATP Finals on Monday as they opened their title bid with a commanding victory.
The second-seeded team returned to Inalpi Arena for the second consecutive year and defeated Christian Harrison and Evan King 6-4, 6-4. After losing to the United States in the French Open quarter-finals, Heliovara and Patten practiced for 64 minutes, during which they conceded just five of their 45 service points, according to Infosys ATP statistics.

Heliovara and Patten have won five consecutive matches since winning in Paris and still have a chance to be named to the ATP Year-End Doubles First Team issued by PIF. They are trying to follow in the footsteps of British stars Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, who lost to Simone Borrelli/Andrea Vavassori on their respective debuts.
After leveling the Lexus ATP head-to-head series with Harrison/King and improving to 1-0 in the John McEnroe bracket, Heliovara and Patten can look forward to matches against Joe Salisbury/Neal Skupski and Marcelo Arevalo/Matt Pavic.
