Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten beat Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski 7-5, 6-3 on Sunday to claim their first Nitto ATP Finals title as a team, ending two-time champion Salisbury’s remarkable winning streak.

After knocking out Italians Simone Borelli and Andrea Vavassori for the first time to advance to the title match, Heliovara and Patten were guaranteed another shot in the final. The Finnish-British team lost to Salisbury and Skupski in the round-robin stage, but performed well in the Lexus ATP Head-to-Head Series to improve their record to 3-2.

The second-seeded team made many stunning passes, served rock solidly, and faced no break point after 80 minutes to win. This is the eighth time in the history of the tournament that a team that lost to its last opponent in the round-robin stage got revenge and won in the championship game.

“It’s hard to describe,” Heliovara said. “All week long I was looking at the list of winners and there were huge winners and I thought if my name was on it I would be so proud. To be next to Henry is unreal.”

According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, Heliowala and Patten ended the season with a 50-20 record. The Finnish-British pair lifted the trophy at the Australian Open and also won titles in Paris and Beijing.

After the victory at the Inalpi Arena, Heliovara put down his racket and let out a roar, while Patten raised his fist in the air. Patten, who achieved a double victory this week, got engaged to his long-term partner Ellie Stone in Turin.

“Tennis is great, but the participation is special,” Patten said. “It’s been a complete dream for me. Ellie has been here supporting me all week. I’m a very happy person now. I feel incredibly lucky to have a partner like her and a partner like Harry.”

Salisbury has won the past 14 Nitto ATP Finals and won the title with Rajeev Ram in 2022 and 2023, but failed to advance in 2024. Skupski was competing in the finals for the first time in the year-end event.

The Brit also lost title matches at the 2025 French Open and US Open. They ended their partnership with a 46-22 record on the season.
