Using an Eero grid system without an Eero Plus subscription limits you to a basic set of options. You can schedule Wi-Fi downtime, set up a guest network, and use Eero as a smart home hub. For most people, this may be enough, but if you subscribe, this is what you get. First, it is worth noting that Eero is used to provide two-tier subscriptions. Eero Secure is $3 per month or $30 per year, including advanced security, content filtering, ad barriers, event insights, and VIP support. Eero Secure+ $10 per month or $100 per year, and adds third-party apps 1Password (password manager), Encrypt.me (VPN), and Malwarebytes (Antivirus), and DDNS for remote network access.
Selected internet service providers still offer Eero Secure, but the only option for everyone else is the rebranded Eero Plus, which includes everything listed above for $10 a month or $100 a year. The subscription now also includes Internet backups, and if your primary Wi-Fi network is down, you can add the secondary backup network (alternative Wi-Fi or hotspot connection) that the system can use.
Given features such as parental control and real-time security, Eero Plus is often offered for free by router manufacturers like ASUS and Linksys. If you need a bundled app, it’s arguably worth it, but even if it’s the only way to get the best Eero experience, it’s hard to justify such a high cost. Thankfully, in line with the brand spirit, everything is very easy to use, and parents’ controls are the best. Please note frequent discounts.
