Alex de Minaur produced an impressive shot under pressure to reach his third consecutive ATP 500 final at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam on Saturday.
The Australian saved all 10 break points he faced and defeated Hugo Humbert 6-4, 6-3 in one hour and 31 minutes, according to Infosys ATP statistics. De Minaur has finished runner-up in each of the last two editions of the competition and is now the first player in the tournament’s history to win three consecutive championship matches.

“I’m very proud of these efforts,” said De Minaur, the eighth-ranked player in the PIF ATP rankings. “Today, there were a lot of tough moments again, a lot of break points, a lot of tricky situations… but I managed to get out of it and I’m very excited to play another final here and give myself another chance to hopefully win the title.
“It’s hard to find a lot of rhythm against him. [Humbert]. He wants to score the first goal in the rally if possible. He’s a clean hitter and doesn’t have a lot of bounce, so it’s hard to find a rhythm and feel comfortable. Not every game you get a chance to be aggressive. I certainly couldn’t do that today, but hey, I found a way. “
De Minaur will face former champions Felix Auger-Aliassime or Alexander Bublik in Sunday’s final for the long-awaited title in Rotterdam. The 26-year-old has also strengthened his form at the ATP 500, taking his tour-leading win total to 52 since the start of the 2023 season.

Although Humbert showed his spirit, the Australians proved untouchable in the decisive moments. De Minaur combined relentless precision with his trademark defensive fortitude to absorb pressure and force errors at key points, especially in a tense second set when Humbert earned four break chances.
With this win, De Minaur improves his record to 6-2 in the Lexus ATP series against the Frenchman. Humbert will next compete at the ATP 500 in Doha, where he will face Fabian Marozsan.
