How to protect yourself from IOC job scams and LPG distribution fraud

Customer concerns about fraudsters who abused the name of the Indian Oil Company (IOC) are growing. Through email, chat and social media posts, Scammers is driving Phoney’s work offer and LPG distribution program, requiring massive deposits. Many have lost hundreds of crores of rupees due to these scams. The IOC has clarified that it has no connection to such offers and does not assume any liability for any loss. The company has urged the public to remain vigilant and rely solely on its official channels to obtain information.

Job scams and misleading advertising

The IOC has repeatedly clarified that it has never announced a vacancy through WhatsApp, Gmail, or private messages. All real recruitment notices appear only in major newspapers, government employment news or Rozgar Samachar and the company’s official website www.iocl.com.

The company will not outsource the private agent or consultant they hire. If specified in the official ad, the only payment it accepts is the application fee. Any demand for additional funds is a clear sign of fraud.

False promises of liquefied petroleum gas issuance

Another broad scam involves fraudulent LPG distribution distribution. People receive letters, emails or phone calls claiming that they have been awarded to dealers on behalf of Indian Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum Company Limited (BPCL) or Hindustan Petroleum Company Limited (HPCL). The fraudster then demands withdrawal of fees or deposits.

The three oil marketing companies stress that they do not appoint intermediaries or representatives for distribution options. Real details are only found on its official website and on the government-backed portal www.lpgvitarakchayan.in.

How to stay safe

Consumers are urged to remain alert when receiving such offers. Scammers often avoid in-person meetings, rely on free email IDs and push people to make quick payments. On the other hand, true distributions only follow a clear online process through official channels and include appropriate on-site verification.

Report fraud

Anyone who encounters this fake news should immediately remind local police and notify the nearest oil company office. Indian Oil also made it clear that it is not responsible for any money lost by fraudsters.

Source of trust only

Those seeking jobs or LPG distribution businesses are advised to trust only the official websites of IOC, BPCL and HPCL. Raising awareness in local communities is equally important to ensure that others don’t fall into prey for similar scams.
